Nicolas School in Mekelle Graduates its first 12th grade students!

Dear friends and supporters

Sunday July 10th 2016 is a day we will never forget. 11 years ago we opened of the Kindergarten at the Nicolas School in Mekele. Now we have just celebrated the graduation day of our first group of 12th graders, aged 18, many of whom are hoping to go to University. Comment: Congratulations on the important milestone!

We will not know the results of the grade 12 exams until September, but we are confident they will have done well and will achieve their dreams. We are immensely proud of our students, and their eloquence, as was demonstrated at the ceremony. It is worth noting that English is the third language for children at the Nicolas School.

At the end of this newsletter you will find a link to a video recording some of the highlights of the day. Please be sure to watch it to the end, when you will see the most incredible speech from one of our grade 12 students.
No doubt the many hundreds of supporters who sponsor students at the school will be wondering about the next steps for the students who go on to university. We have discussed this extensively with the school staff and we will be in touch with you separately to let you know the various options for our student.
Your support makes all the difference. If you or any friends would like to sponsor a young student, starting in September, we are in need of 30 more sponsors for the next school year.

Thank you all for the great support and please enjoy these special scenes from a memorable day

 Wishing you a great summer

With our very best wishes
Max and Kathryn
